In short advance version of US based RTGS payment system or any other instant real-time payment system in other countries. only difference is UPI is Interoperability and send money to any person or online/offline merchant without sharing your bank account details. UPI give you virtual address ID share anyone to accept payment or scan QR code to pay. nothing related to XRP. India's UPI soon expand to other countries. UPI also rival of Visa & Mastercard. no need to carry plastic cards or remember your card number. UPI also allow to withdraw cash through ATMs.
